  • 200-250 grams of Paneer (Cottage cheese)
  • 2 tbsp of Oil, desi ghee, or white butter
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • ½ cup finely chopped onions

  • 1 cup of tomatoes, roughly chopped

  • ½ tsp of red chilli powder
  • ½ tsp of Coriander Powder (ground coriander)

  • 3 tbsp of coriander leaves, finely chopped

How to Make Paneer Bhurji?

Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients 

  • Scramble the paneer into small pieces and keep it aside. It does not have to be very fine.
  • Cut the onions, tomatoes, and green chilies. Keep them aside.
  • Make a paste of ginger and garlic using a mortar and pestle and keep it aside.

Step 2: Cook the Paneer Bhurji 

  • Put oil, ghee, or butter in a pan and heat it on a medium-low or medium flame.
  • Add cumin seeds and let them pop and change their color.
  • When they become brown, add onions. Stir well and fry the onions. When the onions become clear, add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies.
  • Fry for a few seconds until the ginger-garlic smell goes away. Then add tomatoes and fry on medium-low flame until they become soft.
  • You can add a little salt to make the tomatoes cook faster. Then add all the dry spices – turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, and garam masala powder.
  • Stir the spices well and fry for 5 to 6 seconds on low to medium-low flame. Then, add the paneer pieces.
  • Stir well and cook for 1 minute on low flame. Do not cook the paneer for too long as it becomes hard and loses its softness.
  • Finally, add the coriander leaves, stir, and serve hot.

  • मसाले को अच्छे से चलाते हुए धीमी से मध्यम आंच पर 5 से 6 सेकेंड तक भून लीजिए. फिर, पनीर के टुकड़े डालें।
  • अच्छी तरह हिलाएं और धीमी आंच पर 1 मिनट तक पकाएं. – पनीर को ज्यादा देर तक न पकाएं क्योंकि यह सख्त हो जाता है और अपनी नरमी खो देता है.
